Sonia handles most of the booking details at the camp. She will be the other main contact person when you decide to book a wedding at Camp Banksia. Sonia obviously helps add that touch to a the finer details of organising a wedding reception. Sonia would be delighted to show you around the camp's grounds and facilities.

Frequently Asked Questions

How big are the grounds? Camp Banksia sits on a 6 Ha (about 15acres) site right next to the beach at Port Sorell. It is mainly open grassland surrounded with native bush. Although it is easily accessible it still has a very private feel to it. What heating do you have? Our main dining room has a wood burning heater (not quite) in the middle of the room which keeps the room very comfortable even on the coldest days. As well as this there are 4 electric fan heaters for a quick warm up if need be. How many can you cater for? Our main dining room comfortably seats at least 100 even in a formal setting such as a wedding (even more if the seating arrangement is less formal). The room can easily be set up in such a way that with fewer numbers (say, 30 to 40) the room will still feel cosy. For really big numbers (or for a completely different feel) you may of course consider hiring a marquee and having that erected on our lawns. Can we serve alcohol? Yes, certainly. The camp doesn't sell or serve alcohol itself but you are welcome to bring your own or have your guests bring their own. Alcohol consumption must, of course, be consumed in a responsible manner and we ask that you appoint some one from your group to ensure that this happens. If for some reason you wished to sell alcohol you need to apply for a temporary liquor license and show this to the camp manager. The camp manager is happy to help advise you on obtaining a temporary license if you need assistance.
