The Groom and Groomsmen Formal Wear

Men's formal wear is composed of a tie, a suit, pants, shirt, and some accessories like cuff links. How hard can it be for them to dress up for a wedding? Believe it or not, but men also experience confusion in choosing their outfits. Suit and tie colours and style may sometimes confuse men as they may not be absolutely sure whether their ensemble is formal enough to be worn in a wedding. As such, you must lend them a helping hand in choosing the right outfit for your wedding.

Men may find it hard to choose whether to wear a tuxedo or a suit. This decision is actually up to you as you set the style and ambiance of your wedding. If you're not a big fan of formal weddings, you can allow your groomsmen to wear a suit rather than a tuxedo. Wearing a suit may be better for them because they may reuse the suits when they go to work. But just a word: see to it that suits match the flower girl and bridesmaid dresses. There must be no mismatch whatsoever. It will also help to talk with your groomsmen about the quality of the suit they are willing to buy. If they are a little bit hesitant in buying quality suits, assure them that those suits would be worth the price, but don't push them into buying if they really don't like to.

But if you're really strict about the groomsmen wearing tuxedos, advise them to get a black one as a black tuxedo can go with any other formal occasion. Most often, however, groomsmen find it a bit hard to decide whether to buy a tuxedo or just get one from a shop that has a tuxedo hire. If they would use the tuxedo in the near future, then it would be wise to consider buying one. Otherwise, they can just take advantage of a tuxedo hire. But groomsmen should make sure that the formal wear hire offers tuxedos that are in good quality.

The choice of the colour of the tie also depends on what you and your bridal party has agreed upon. You can choose ties to match the bridesmaid and flower girl dresses. Whether to wear a long tie or a bow tie is also up to your preference. Bow ties are the ones usually worn with tuxedos, but wearing a long tie is just fine. Also, don't forget to talk with your groomsmen about the type of collared shirt to wear inside the tuxedo. You can choose from either wearing a fine ribbed shirt or a pleated shirt.

Men may have a lot lesser choice in choosing their formal wear, but it doesn't mean that they do not need your help in choosing the outfits they are going to wear in your wedding. It may happen that a groomsman's suit doesn't go with the other groomsmen, or it clashes badly with the rest of the bridal party outfits or even with the mother of the bride dress.
