I was born and raised in Indonesia. I spent my childhood in Jayapura, West Papua up to the age of 12 and then moved to Jakarta, Indonesia. My grandma was a great cook and often she took orders to prepare meals for parties. From an early age, I observed her methods and helped when allowed to. My parents divorced when I was 12 years old and my mum opened a catering business to support us. My sisters and I often had to be up very early to help my mum and her two employees prepare meals for events. Like her mum, my mum has always been passionate about food. She grew her own organic fruit and veggies and we also had our own free range poultry. I would run and feed the chooks, happily collecting all the fresh eggs after school. The wonderful smell and taste of the freshly baked cakes, bread, pastry and other food that my mum prepared from fresh organic produce remains with me to this day. It is the memories of my childhood that drive my passion to produce food that is both fresh and flavoursome. I moved to Sydney and have lived in this beautiful city since 1999. I have always been a creative person. I love baking, decorating wedding cakes, cooking, sewing, growing organic vegetables among other things. While I am a self taught cake artist, I am fortunate to possess an intuitive sense for cooking passed down from the two generations before me.
