Jessica & Scott How did you meet? The night of Scott’s 21st…many moons ago! Our first date together was in The Rocks which was about 3 months later. How long did you spend planning your wedding? I’ve had 13 years to prepare! (If I stuck to my original thoughts & plans, I’d of worn a puffy sleeved dress & babies breath in my hair!!!) Honestly, about six months to prepare. Number of guests: 110 Describe the theme of your wedding and why you chose this theme: Elegant party. I just wanted a party. Not a formal wedding or sit down. I really wanted our guests to kick back & relax & dance, dance, dance!!! I also didn’t want our guests hanging around & having to wait for the “formalities” so we brought the speeches forward, followed shortly after by our bridal waltz so Scott & I could enjoy the night with our guests. Colour scheme: Black & Silver Ceremony location: Hickson Road Reserve, The Rocks Reception location: Italian Village, Florence & Sienna rooms. Describe the Brides dress: Maggie Soretto, bought from Abbey Bridal. The colour I chose was Silver Haze & the style was Illana. Rather than a veil, I had a small box veil, which was made by an amazing designer Amanda, at Pitt Trading. Describe the Bridesmaids outfits: Black long dresses purchased from Myer. I didn’t want my gorgeous girls looking like bridesmaids, so went for an elegant dress off the rack. Men’s suits: Black with black & silver tie Photographer: Darlene Andrews Photography Hair & Makeup: Makeup by Kay Mitchelson (She’s BRILLIANT!) Hair by Danielle Stationery/ bonbonniere: Invitations were created by my bridesmaid & best friend Kim. I had a concept in my mind of what I wanted & she waved her magic wand & they turned out better than I had even imagined! I designed & put together my own lolly buffet for our bonbonniere. It was so much fun & looked unbelievable! Our guests loved it!!! Cake: Cake studio. A single tier of caramel mud cake – yum!!!! Flowers: stunning arrangement comprising of gardenias, david austin roses, hydrangeas & roses. Francis Dunn of Miranda was the florist. Entertainment: DJ was Mastreo Entertainement. Michael was our DJ on the night & was sensational. I also hired a photobooth from Momentus Photos. I can not begin to tell you how much of a hit this was!!! The photos are hilarious! This would have had to of been a highlight of the night. Honeymoon: Fiji! We stayed at the Intercontinental Golf Resort & Spa. We had our own butler & very own infinity pool! It was nothing but breakfast followed by sitting in our pool drinking bubbly, high tea in the afternoon, followed by cocktails & more cocktails! Describe your day: It was everything I had hoped for and more! The weather was perfect. I just remember smiling at Scott as our 15 month old daughter & flower girl, Lillian, walked down the isle ahead of my father & I with my mum. I couldn’t wait to say “I DO!” (Which I did say very enthusiastically!) Once we arrived at the reception, the bridal party got to relax for a few minutes before making their entrances & dancing across the dance floor. Scott & I surprised our guest by coming in the back entrance. What were your favourite parts of your Wedding Reception: The rooms looked amazing! I loved how the venue was intimate, yet not over crowded. The dance floor was never empty! The photobooth constantly had a queue & the guest got to take home a photo strip as a momento, and Scott & I got to keep the copy, which was placed in an album that our guests signed. The food and drinks didn’t stop flowing & our guests raved about the service. Kathlin looked after us on the night & was so sweet & attentive! Any Tips for Future Brides & Grooms: To all the brides out there, you will be told this by anyone & everyone… take time to enjoy YOUR day. I must of heard this a hundred times & made sure I took the advice. Take time to look at your bridesmaids & flowergirl(s) get ready. Play some music to get ready to, have a glass of bubbly & smile. Smell your bouquet & admire the work your florist has done. Don’t stress about the small stuff. I was fortunate that nothing went wrong (other than one of our groomsman didn’t have a shirt, tie or pocket hanky & only realise when they were getting dressed! I made a quick call to the hire shop & they snapped to it). Don’t be a bridezilla. It’s not pretty & you want your bridal party to be relaxed & not wince whenever you open your mouth or look their way. I was so relaxed & chilled out in the months & days leading up to our wedding, my mother stressing out that I wasn’t! Tell your groom how much you love him & hold onto his hand tight when you are saying your vows, because it will be his hand you will be holding onto for the rest of your lives. Is there anything else you would like to share with our Italian Village brides and grooms: I had the pleasure of having Lauren & Sasha look after us in planning our wedding at The Italian Village. And a pleasure they were. If you have any questions, they are there to answer them. I designed my own lolly buffet/candy station. I set up the station at home & took a picture so they had an idea of how I wanted it assembled. When we arrived at the reception, I couldn’t believe it looked exactly like the picture! (I don’t know why I sound so surprised, they’re professionals!) Put your faith in them. They know what they are doing & it means you can focus on being the beautiful bride!

Hi Kay I can't believe our wedding was 2 weeks ago. I was hoping that I would have received some professional photos to be able to send you but I don't think I will get them for a few more weeks. Thanks for doing such a wonderful job on my, Mum's and Nicole's (and Dad's!) makeup. I was really pleased with it and it lasted all day which was fantastic. Here are a few pictures of the day. Thanks again. Kristin

Kay did a fabulous job! Everything was flawless, our makeup lasted the entire day and looked fantastic in the photos. You organised everyone and made us feel so calm and at ease, it was more like having a special friend share the morning. Everyone commented on how beautiful and natural the make up looked on the entire bridal party. I look back on our photos, that will give us a lifetime of memories and I am so pleased that we all looked great on the day. Thank you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Hairdressers ??? I stongly recommend you have a professional hairdresser in the home as well, as in my experience going out to a salon can cause problems and break up your group during your morning. My most recommended stylist is Penny Martin A lot of m/up artists do hair as well but if you have a group of 3-5 the need for 2 professionals is a fantastic time saver. The end result is always fabulous. Can I have false lashes ?? This is very individual and becoming more desirable. I use the Lumiere brand of strip lash (optional extra) These lashes come in a variety of styles to suit all eye shapes and feel like your own but look amazing. Either full impact or very natural, its up to you. Why have a trial make-up ?? This is optional , however recommended if we have not met before so you will have confidence that this is the service you are wanting. The trial will open up the communication regarding your style, colours, and needs for your day. The trial fee is from $100 and is a small price to pay to have full confidence in your choice. Appointment time is around 1 & 1/2 hrs. Mobile at a time to suit us both. How much?? There are many make-up artists around now that charge more than their experience or maturity fee is generated by how many, where and if it is a re-booking (have I done your m/up before), please contact me to discuss fees ..I cleanse, prepare and touch up at the end as well. Please remember you get what you pay for and I am very familiar with all that can happen on a wedding day and can gently guide and assist you in all ways. I have a very easy going, professional and very important, reliable attitude toward your special day.
