Jessica & Scott
How did you meet? The night of Scott’s 21st…many moons ago! Our first date together was in The Rocks which was about 3 months later.
How long did you spend planning your wedding? I’ve had 13 years to prepare! (If I stuck to my original thoughts & plans, I’d of worn a puffy sleeved dress & babies breath in my hair!!!) Honestly, about six months to prepare.
Number of guests: 110
Describe the theme of your wedding and why you chose this theme: Elegant party. I just wanted a party. Not a formal wedding or sit down. I really wanted our guests to kick back & relax & dance, dance, dance!!! I also didn’t want our guests hanging around & having to wait for the “formalities” so we brought the speeches forward, followed shortly after by our bridal waltz so Scott & I could enjoy the night with our guests.
Colour scheme: Black & Silver
Ceremony location: Hickson Road Reserve, The Rocks
Reception location: Italian Village, Florence & Sienna rooms.
Describe the Brides dress: Maggie Soretto, bought from Abbey Bridal. The colour I chose was Silver Haze & the style was Illana. Rather than a veil, I had a small box veil, which was made by an amazing designer Amanda, at Pitt Trading.
Describe the Bridesmaids outfits: Black long dresses purchased from Myer. I didn’t want my gorgeous girls looking like bridesmaids, so went for an elegant dress off the rack.
Men’s suits: Black with black & silver tie
Photographer: Darlene Andrews Photography
Hair & Makeup: Makeup by Kay Mitchelson (She’s BRILLIANT!) Hair by Danielle
Stationery/ bonbonniere: Invitations were created by my bridesmaid & best friend Kim. I had a concept in my mind of what I wanted & she waved her magic wand & they turned out better than I had even imagined!
I designed & put together my own lolly buffet for our bonbonniere. It was so much fun & looked unbelievable! Our guests loved it!!!
Cake: Cake studio. A single tier of caramel mud cake – yum!!!!
Flowers: stunning arrangement comprising of gardenias, david austin roses, hydrangeas & roses. Francis Dunn of Miranda was the florist.
Entertainment: DJ was Mastreo Entertainement. Michael was our DJ on the night & was sensational.
I also hired a photobooth from Momentus Photos. I can not begin to tell you how much of a hit this was!!! The photos are hilarious! This would have had to of been a highlight of the night.
Honeymoon: Fiji! We stayed at the Intercontinental Golf Resort & Spa. We had our own butler & very own infinity pool! It was nothing but breakfast followed by sitting in our pool drinking bubbly, high tea in the afternoon, followed by cocktails & more cocktails!
Describe your day: It was everything I had hoped for and more! The weather was perfect. I just remember smiling at Scott as our 15 month old daughter & flower girl, Lillian, walked down the isle ahead of my father & I with my mum. I couldn’t wait to say “I DO!” (Which I did say very enthusiastically!) Once we arrived at the reception, the bridal party got to relax for a few minutes before making their entrances & dancing across the dance floor. Scott & I surprised our guest by coming in the back entrance.
What were your favourite parts of your Wedding Reception: The rooms looked amazing! I loved how the venue was intimate, yet not over crowded. The dance floor was never empty! The photobooth constantly had a queue & the guest got to take home a photo strip as a momento, and Scott & I got to keep the copy, which was placed in an album that our guests signed. The food and drinks didn’t stop flowing & our guests raved about the service. Kathlin looked after us on the night & was so sweet & attentive!
Any Tips for Future Brides & Grooms: To all the brides out there, you will be told this by anyone & everyone… take time to enjoy YOUR day. I must of heard this a hundred times & made sure I took the advice. Take time to look at your bridesmaids & flowergirl(s) get ready. Play some music to get ready to, have a glass of bubbly & smile. Smell your bouquet & admire the work your florist has done. Don’t stress about the small stuff. I was fortunate that nothing went wrong (other than one of our groomsman didn’t have a shirt, tie or pocket hanky & only realise when they were getting dressed! I made a quick call to the hire shop & they snapped to it). Don’t be a bridezilla. It’s not pretty & you want your bridal party to be relaxed & not wince whenever you open your mouth or look their way. I was so relaxed & chilled out in the months & days leading up to our wedding, my mother stressing out that I wasn’t! Tell your groom how much you love him & hold onto his hand tight when you are saying your vows, because it will be his hand you will be holding onto for the rest of your lives.
Is there anything else you would like to share with our Italian Village brides and grooms:
I had the pleasure of having Lauren & Sasha look after us in planning our wedding at The Italian Village. And a pleasure they were. If you have any questions, they are there to answer them. I designed my own lolly buffet/candy station. I set up the station at home & took a picture so they had an idea of how I wanted it assembled. When we arrived at the reception, I couldn’t believe it looked exactly like the picture! (I don’t know why I sound so surprised, they’re professionals!) Put your faith in them. They know what they are doing & it means you can focus on being the beautiful bride!
