Wedding News > Choosing Bridesmaids

16 June 2008

For some, choosing bridesmaids is easy. For others, it can be a nightmare. You might have pressure from your own friends and family on who to choose, as well as pressure from the groom's friends and family on who should be in the wedding party.

A bridesmaid has many duties and she should be able to uphold them to fulfil her role.

When choosing bridesmaids, consider if your choices will be able to handle the following roles:

  • Help plan and pay for the Hen's Night.
  • Wear the correct attire.
  • Pay for the bridesmaid dress and attend fittings.
  • Attend wedding rehearsals.
  • Dance with groomsmen.
  • Look after the bride attentively throughout the day.
  • Mingle with guests.

If you don't think your choice can fulfil all the necessary duties, it might be best to ask someone else. You want your wedding to be as stress free as possible - you don't need a diva trying to hog the limelight on your big day.

By choosing the right bridesmaid for your wedding you will be choosing a person who is helpful, attentive, and a true friend.
