The Australis Retreat at Wisemans
5564 Old Northern Road, Wisemans Ferry NSW 2775
Nestled in the historic hamlet of Wisemans Ferry, the Australis Retreat at Wisemans lies in nearly 50 acres of park-like grounds on the banks of the Hawkesbury River, sheltered by the majestic escarpments of the Dharug National Park.
The Retreat has created a very special wedding garden right on the banks of the Hawkesbury. The wedding gazebo, with the backdrop of the river, provides a unique setting where the bridal couple can exchange their vows. And the grounds are a photographer’s heaven with so many alternatives for that special shot. Owner Barry Topple says, “We often find that the bridal party is still having photos taken well after the scheduled start time for the reception- but we’re used to that and adjust everything to suit.”
Many couples choose to have their reception in a marquee in the wedding garden. This provides a beautiful setting for up to 150 guests for a seated function or 200 for a cocktail party. An alternative choice is the Riverbend Restaurant which can seat up to 100 guests.
One of the great attractions of the Retreat is its accommodation. The bridal couple have complimentary use of a wedding suite and with 54 well appointed rooms, guests can enjoy the wedding without having to worry about the drive home.
The Retreat offers everything you would expect and more from a 4 star resort including a golf course, tennis courts, 25 metre swimming pool and a pampering and beauty massage salon. It's a haven of tranquillity, yet only just over an hour's drive from Sydney.
Also featuring a purpose designed event complex, the Australis Retreat at Wisemans is ideal for conferences, business meetings and special events.
The resort’s Riverbend Restaurant features a contemporary menu masterfully created by their Head Chef Kate and inspired by the freshest local produce. Open 7 days, sampling the culinary delights of Riverbend is a highlight for gourmet travellers.
With its AAA Tourism ‘Environmentally Friendly’ rating, the resort shows a clear appreciation for the surrounding pristine natural environment that provides guests with bushwalking, mountain biking or 4WDriving adventures in the neighbouring National Park; and an array of water sports including waterskiing, wakeboarding and fishing on one of Australia’s longest stretches of riverbed.

We wish to thank all the staff at the "Retreat at Wisemans" for the wonderful service and attention that we all received at Kim and Scott's wedding (13th March 2010). Everything went so smoothly without any problems, making the day more special. Everyone that attended the wedding had such a great time, and commented how good the food, drinks and service was. It is a credit to you all. Warren & Sue Sullivan
